I was asked to create an interactive sculpture for The Hambidge Center's annual art auction and masquerade fundraiser.
I was inspired by Sagrada Familia, specifically the stained glass at sunset, after a trip I had taken earlier that year.
I chose to use LCD monitors as the source of light. I removed the actual LCD from the monitors, which just left the light box. People were asked to put colored pieces of paper on the screens to help create a mosaic.
The screens were modified so they could be turned on by an Arduino, which itself was controlled by a Processing Sketch. The sketch used a Kinect camera and would activate the monitors if someone stood or sat in a marked spot. The inspiration for using the Kinect came from a Coding Train video.
